Welcome to Hendersonville Sister Cities.
As Mayor of the City of Hendersonville and Honorary Chair of Hendersonville Sister Cities, I welcome you to our website. One of the main purposes of our Sister City Program is to open new dialogues with other cultures to improve our quality of life, through formalized relationships and informal partnerships within and outside of our community. Hendersonville is proud to be called “the friendliest city in America” and we open our arms to people of all backgrounds and cultures. In an increasingly global world, we strive to build bridges with our international neighbors, and to strengthen our civic, economic, and cultural ties. I invite you to explore our website, learn more about what we do, and to join us!
Sincerely,
Barbara Glennon Volk
Mayor of Hendersonville
What is a Sister City?
A sister city, county or state is an officially approved, long-term partnership between two communities, counties or states in two countries. A sister city, county or state relationship becomes official with a signing ceremony of the top-elected officials of the two local jurisdictions, following approval by the local city councils (county commissions or state legislatures), as appropriate. Sister Cities programs carry out many different types of activities and projects and generally involve local government, businesses, and a wide variety of citizen volunteers.
We welcome your interest! Please contact us for more information about what we do, and how you can get involved.
"Hendersonville Sister Cities, Inc. fosters international cooperation and understanding by promoting education and understanding of cultural differences, travel and social interaction, and economic cooperation through formalized international partnerships."
